An Update on My Photography

February 19th, 2010 admin

I started taking photographs a few years ago but it wasn’t until around May that I started going out weekly to snap photos. Now, I venture out every other day and sometimes there are photos that I deem good enough to post.

Last week, I bought Apple’s Aperture 3 software and started experimenting with processing of my images. The results are okay. I am pasting a few of my favorites below.

My photos are still just okay. The processing is something new and I’ll try to get better at it over time. All of these had some processing of some kind. As you can see some of it was minimal and other times it was pretty drastic. If you know of any online resources for improving my photo editing let me know.

be very careful with HDR, that's all I really can say. It doesn't take much to over-do it. I really like the Bread-pudding photo :D

Hi Kolin. I haven't done any HDRs yet. That's just Aperture and sliding the sliders all of the way over. LOL.

Oh and thanks! A lot of the new photos are taken with a tripod that's why they're suddenly not blurry :P

I suggest keeping both hands on the wheel while driving, not on the camera.

You're the 3rd person to tell me that. I wasn't driving. That was taken from the passenger seat.

    Hey Adam,

Switch your G11 into Aperture Priority AE mode. Open up the lens aperture to F/2.8. Put your subject off-center in the frame but at the same time making sure that there's something interesting in the background. Move the focus point by pressing the AF frame selector button and using the directional pad which will move the focus square onto your subject. Capture the image, and see what you get.

    I guarantee it will be……bokeh-licious!

    See-Ya!

Ya know what…I may have to cancel laundry duty and run out to take a few photos. You might have just made my effing weekend!

    Thanks!
